Essa é a lista feita pelo jornal The New York post que elegeu as 100 melhores regravações do rock. Essa lista é de 2007, mas como sou um blogueiro muito atualizado, só estou postando ela hoje.

Essas listas, todos sabemos, sempre geram os tradicionais pitacos. Todo mundo faria ela diferente, é claro. Não posso comentar muito essa lista, pois dezenas desses covers eu nunca ouvi. Farei isso agora e, quem sabe, volto a comentar essa lista.

Mas peraí, deixa eu ver se tenho alguns pitacos aqui no bolso...


# Estou reparando que a versão de Ramones para "Spiderman" é citada. Outra deles que eu acho bem legal é "What a wonderful world", canção mais-que-clássica de Louis Armstrong. Não ousaram muito, mas verter para o punk a canção de Armstrong já é um grande feito. Cabia nessa lista.

# Bom de ver essas listas é fazer descobertas. Como nunca fui atrás, descobri algumas músicas que eu jurava que fossem originalmente de certas bandas, mas que na realidade são regravações. Love Hurts não é do Nazareth! God, isso é uma revelação. haha. E tem outras: sempre jurei que "I will always love you" fosse da W. Houston. Fiquei de cara, haha.

#O nº 61 foi dado para um cover de "Sweet Child O'Mine", do Guns, feita por Luna - que desconheço. Preciso ouvir. Mas desde já lembro que há uma regravação dessa música feita por Sílvia Machete, cantora brasileira de MPB recém surgida. Uma pegada bem mais leve, bossa. Interessante, eu diria.

#Cover perfeito é aquele que supera o original, ou dá um novo caminho para ele (nesse caso, uma releitura), como por exemplo a adição de novos ritmos ou então a troca total dele, como fizeram os Ramones com What a wonderful world.

#Bem, já que a lista é de 2007... atualizações são permitidas e necessárias. Pena que meu conhecimento musical não seja tão amplo. Não estou me recordando de covers recentes para entrar nessa lista. Apenas um: recentemente o Franz Ferdinand (aliás, preciso escrever sobre eles em breve) regravou "Call me", clássico da banda Blondie. Ficou muito bom: o Franz atualizou a música, atualizou o ritmo dando mais velocidade à musica (aquele ritmo meio lento de algumas dos anos 80, sabe?). E fizeram mantendo algumas características do Blondie, como aqueles "riffs" meio soturnos que costumam iniciar as músicas do Blondie. O Franz Ferdinand também fez um cover para "Womanizer", single recente da Britney Spears (sim, é isso mesmo). E pasmem: fiquei com saudade da Spears. Tem gente que gostou, mas pra mim nessa o Franz bobeou.

# Outra coisa que sempre vem à nossa mente quando lemos as listas, é lembrar das injustiças. Aqueles que foram esquecidos. Tem um cover que tinha que estar aqui, e nas primeiras posições! "I heard It through the grapevine", originalmente de Marvin Gaye, na regravação pelo Creedence. PÔ, é uma versão e tanto! Tão sensual quanto o original de Gaye e com um toque moderno. Essa é a síntese do bom cover! Bobearam nessa!

# E putz, como é que eu posto uma lista e não comento nada da primeira colocada, o cover da música original do Led? Putz, preciso ouvir e voltar aqui logo.
